Submit a film
To submit a film, you need to :
- Comply with the Preselection Conditions regarding your requested section.
- Validate all the different steps of your online registration/Fill out the online form and make sure you validate every single step of the process.
- Upload your film on our online secured server.
- Check the quality of your films’ upload and validate or send your feedback if necessary.
- You film will be watched, and you will receive an email notification informing about your participation status.
Important: it is now possible for you to register both to The Official Competition and to the Short Film Corner, if and only if your movie matches all the criteria.

Shorts in Competition
Short films are directly uploaded at the end of the registration process (cf. Technical Specifications below).
No short film sent in other formats (DVD, BluRay, Mini DV, Beta, ...) will be viewed.
There is no fee for the short film submission and your film must only be uploaded once.
N.B. It is possible to present a working copy of the film. When filling out the entry form, please state if the submission is the final version or a working version. Once you have uploaded a working copy, you won’t be able to upload later a final copy.
CONDITIONS
Only films that meet the following conditions may be submitted for consideration by the Official Selection:
- Films that have been produced during the twelve months preceding the Festival
- Films whose distribution is limited to their country of origin
- Films that have not been presented at any international motion picture event. If the film has been selected for an international section (competitive or not) of a festival, it becomes ineligible for the Festival de Cannes. A selection is international if it presents films from different countries.
- Films that have not been shown on the Internet
- Short films that do not exceed 15 minutes in length, including credits
FILM DURATION
In order to be selected in the Short Films competition, your film must be under 15 minutes long (including credits).
The Festival de Cannes does not accept films with a duration of between 15 and 60 minutes.
Short films (between 1 and 35 minutes) can be registered for the Short Film Corner: a meeting place dedicated to short films within the Festival de Cannes.
You can also contact the Directors' Fortnight or the Semaine de la Critique, which are parallel sections of the Festival de Cannes.
DEADLINE FOR REGISTRATION
The registration deadline is March 17th , 2023. (By this date, the entry form must have been filled out.)
IF YOUR FILM IS SELECTED
You will be contacted before the official press conference, which will take place toward mid-April.
You must supply us either with a DCP (Digital Cinema Package), a JPEG 2000 file or a 35mm print.
The Film Department will send you all the necessary information in due time, but only if your film is selected.
How to upload your film?
You will have to upload your film file during the submission process.
We accept almost all kinds of source files.
Please note that the Apple ProRes encoding process is not tolerated.

Short Film Corner | Rendez-vous Industry
The Short Film Corner | Rendez-vous Industry is a Forum dedicated to short films. Neither a selection, nor a competition, the Short Film Corner - as a market area - is designed to boost networking between professionals.
Registering at the SFC | Rendez-vous Industry is reserved to short films with cinema artistic values. After viewing your film, we reserve the right to refuse a registration without having to justify our decision.
For your information, the viewing process the films will start in February.
The registration fee for one short film is 55 €uros (VAT included).
If several films are registered under the same account, the registration fee for the first registraion is 55€uros ; for the next films, the registration fee will be 3.60€ per minute of film.
Please note that the registration fee is non-refundable, whatever the result of your application.
Please note that the use of the palme or of any logotype linked to the Festival de Cannes is strictly forbidden. It is only reserved to the Festival organisation itself and to the films presented in the Official Selection.
Any use of the institutional logos will result in the cancellation of the film's registration at the SFC | Rendez-vous Industry
CONDITIONS to register your film in the Short Film Corner | Rendez-vous Industry:
- Your film must have been produced after June 1st 2022
- Your film length must not exceed 35 min
- Your film must not have been broadcasted on Internet
- The film must not have been registered in the last past edition of the Short Film Corner
- Films must be in original version with English subtitles or in English.

- Upload your film
- Check the video quality of your film
- You will receive a notification from the Short Film Corner after viewing your film
